Some of my thoughts as I read Chapter One

Our dependance on God is to be unceasing, absolute, and universal - no wiggle room here!  How often I cease depending on God and try to do things myself, by my power and might - shameful!

I owe everything to God and that my only response to this should be me emptying myself and finding in Him my chief care, my highest virtue, my only happiness.

That I am not living a life in Christ once and for all, but each moment continuously - WOW!

Pride - don't get me started - too much to say on how much I need to work on this area!

"His humility is our salvation.  His salvation is our humility."  Did you hear the crack of lightening - such a rich statement, may the Lord be pleased to write this on my heart and bring it to my mind often!

I am convicted by the sentence, "God has so constituted us as reasonable beings, that the truer the insight into the real nature or the absolute need of a command, the readier and fuller will be our obedience to it."  Lord, I pray for insight into my need for humility that I may obey your commands.  I pray that I would make seeking humility a priority in my time, actions, thoughts, and words.

I think if I truly understood humility and my need for it, I would spend my time differently, speak differently, pray differently.

that is all
